Often, when buying a tire, the only criterium used by customers is size, which is a big mistake. For the detail to last longer, not to be subject to rapid and uneven wear, and most importantly to ensure your smooth and safe movement, in addition to the appropriate measures, you should consider many other indicators.

With the help of specialists from the company “Autobani”,  we present to you four characteristics that play a crucial role in the process of preparing the vehicle for the respective season.

Imagine, that in winter, at -4 celsius, go outside in sandals, or in summer, under the sun, with warm winter shoes.  It’s discomfort, right? It is in such conditions that your car has to move you, with unsuitable tires.

To dodge problems like this, here are four main things that you should consider when buying a tire, which will ensure your comfortable movement.

1. Consider the season

As most customers know, there are 2 types of tires, depending on the season, summer or winter. Other than that, there are one other MS-type tires. Which are often called “all-season” tires by customers, which is a mistake. MS is an abbreviation, for mud and snow, and like the other tires, they have 2 types, summer, and winter.

When driving on tracks, on snowy roads, or in summer, it is necessary to install tires of the appropriate season on the car. In this case, your trip will be safer and you will avoid uneven and rapid tire wear – ‘’Autobani’’ specialists say.

2. Release date

It’s possible, that many people may not pay attention to the release date of the tire, which is a big mistake in the first place. Date check is easy to do with the 4-number combination on the tire. For example, if the tire has 1418, this means that its release date is the 14th week of 2018. Each tire has on average 5 years of Expiration time, without exploitation.

To buy an expired tire is not recommended, even if it’s new. After this period, rubber loses its characteristic properties (for example, grip, density, etc.). The tire may begin to wear prematurely and soon need to be replaced.

3. Protector

Protector, i.e. different deepness and figures on tires, first of all, it is necessary that when the tire passes on a wet or heat-deformed surface, protect a car from losing direction. Other than this indicator, a winter tire always has a snowflake symbol in a triangle, which makes it easy to distinguish it from other season tires. Deep and frequent grooves provide better grip in winter conditions on snowy and muddy roads.

All tires, which don’t have a snowflake symbol in a triangle, you can say that they are summer tires. A summer tire, in contrast to a winter tire, is always made of a harder material, which ensures the minimization of elongation at high temperatures and an increase in the ability to grip the surface.

4. Tire specification

You probably have noticed, that other than sizes, tires have a lot of other indication signs or an inscription. All of them have different meanings and when you choose a tire you should pay attention to each one of them. One sign like this is the weight and speed index. For example, a tire probably has writing – 94V, which means, that the tire is for 670kg pressure and the effectiveness maximum is 240km/hr. There are many applications for calculating this index on the Internet, and everyone can easily find them, but it would be better if you entrust their selection directly to specialists.
